Adding brooches to your dress

Have you been to a function and two girls wear the same dress, but that was not the uniform? Yes, sometimes it's hard to avoid such a situation if you end up choosing the same evening gowns from similar boutiques or fashion stores.

One of the ways is to customize your own dress, by adding your own personal touch. You can add embellishments, or beads to your dress. However, this could take weeks and probably even costs more than the price of the gown.

A shortcut is to add brooches to your dress. You can add this onto the collar line, the chest area, or just below your cleavage if you are wearing a V neck or halter neck. If your dress has got a bow or a unique belt, then you can add the brooches to these unexpected sections.

Last week i was at Seibu @ Langham Place shopping mall in Mongkok. I was looking for some crystal brooches and found a little counter that had some interesting pieces that i loved.

This piece above is a huge flower brooch in silver colour. The unique thing about this brooch is that the crystals are of 2 different cuts, so you can actually have a contrast of the 2 different flowers. I will be placing this brooch to a halter deep v white lacy evening gown and the size is just right. The price for this piece was HK$320.

The next piece is this multi coloured crystal brooch.

In the middle you would have a lilac coloured big stone, and at the sides, there were different sizes of coloured swarovski crystal stones plus beige pearls. Then there is a drop down middle sized pink pearl. This brooch can be attached to champagne, gold, pink and lilac coloured dress. The price of this piece was HK$270.
If you don't feel like making holes into your gown with the brooch, you can consider using bold jewelry and accessories.
For instance, you can put a satin ribbon sash or coloured neck string and change the brooch into a pendant with your necklace, or it can be a cool choker.
